Desktop & Screen Saver pane of System Preferences quits - Colorado

Frustrated because the Desktop & Screensaver pane of System Preferences crashes whenever it is opened, or it opens properly but changes made to the settings inside aren't saved? This issue can be resolved by choosing the Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and entering ~/Library/Preferences/ as the folder's location. After this folder has appeared, move the item named com.apple.desktop.plist to the desktop. Next, open the ByHost folder inside and move anything inside which has a name containing screensaver to the desktop as well. If everything works properly after moving those files, throw them away.
